Ripple100
We are Ripple100. Amy, Andre, Chas, Dan, Dave, Dennis, and counting. Ripple100 is social software for word of mouth campaigns - for causes, events, products, services, brands, heroes, anything worth sharing and spreading becuase of the difference it’s making. We’re equal parts software utility and cultural movement. Tell you more as we get closer to launch.
Amy Desmarais and Andre Yap started Ripple100 when Amy was still a soccer standout about to graduate summa cum laude from college (she’ll never mention it, so he does) and Andre was running CUBED.
From day 1 we’ve obsessed with one challenge: how to use the web to stir action, results, impact, ultimately change. Today, we’ve codified that into a simpler question: How will you make a difference today? Which we help you answer and implement using the best of social media and technologies. That is, using Ripple100.
Sound like a non-profit? Not us. We’ve always seen “social media for social change” as a challenge equally central to for-profits and non-profits, with open market solutions being delivered as a for-profit enterprise. Which is what we are if we’re going to attract world-class talent and sustain a virtuous cycle of innovation.
How will you make a difference today? You should have a good answer whether you’re a cause, product, or service. How will you make a difference today? In fact, that’s what every great organization, big or small, global or local, for-profit or non should answer. If you can’t answer it, you’re irrelevant. If you have an answer but consumers don’t buy it, you’re inauthentic – people don’t buy you. You’re just another advertisement, full of over-spin and hype. And the only question is how long can you keep it up when a) consumers have so much more reality only clicks away, and b) your competitors keep out-answering you?
So, how will you make a difference today? That’s the question we help you answer at Ripple100. We help you keep it real; keep it short and thus easy to digest and share; and keep it actionable. Watch out for the first ripples, coming soon in your favorite metro areas!
The First Ripple
This blog is about great relationships between consumers and brands big and small. And all the ways social media and technologies help us get there.
We know it’s a great relationship if it’s:
- Authentic - based on shared values, interests, experiences; more direct, approachable, human; less hype and spin.
- Inclusive - with consumers and brands as insiders in the same community; no more outsiders intrusively advertising their way in.
- Constructive - with calls to meaningful action; not just adding more noise and clutter to media.
- Mutually rewarding - whether in a better world, stronger identity, sales, growth, loyalty, both consumers and brands should see tangible results.
So, how are we covering this topic?
- Metro view. People live, work, play locally, so that’s where we’ll look at brands and the relations they’re fostering. We’ll start where we are, in New Haven, CT, go from there.
- Kitchen table. The economy; careers; health; education; leisure. Let’s see how brands engage issues that are front and center of everyday life.
- Live examples. We’ll write what real brands are doing now. More case studies, less opinion-fests from pundits.
- Real tools. We’ll cover social media and tech that are easy to use - for, with and by regular people, not just techies.
- Ripple100. That’s our startup. As we approach launch, we’ll share how we’re helping consumers and brands engage in ways that are more authentic, inclusive, constructive and mutually rewarding.
